Procrastinator?

Today I went to a parent-teacher conference for Connor,
went to the mall, went to Costco, took my kids to Sonic for lunch, pulled some weeds, watered my plants, vacuumed my stairs, did the dishes, did my step areobics while watching
my soap opera, talked with my neighbor,
called an old friend, caught bugs with Connor, and wrote this blog...

all so I wouldn't have to fold laundry.

I love "The Office"

Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both.
I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.

bitch, bitch, bitch

I really should rename this blog to Beth's Bitching Session. I am in so much pain I am freaking out. I have the Coxsackie Virus from Clara, who got it from daycare. She had the sore throat with lesions on the back of it, then the fever, then she was fine. I, on the other hand, saw the lesions, had the fever, and now my throat hurts so bad I can't talk. Not even over-exaggerating. I barley can talk above a whisper, and swallowing is almost out of the question. let me start from this morning. I was able to speak but my throat was worse then yesterday, so I called the doctor's office and the nurse said I have all the symptoms of this coxsackie virus (hand-foot-mouth disease) but I should come in just for a rapid strep test. I think, no problem, a quick swipe in my mouth and I'll be good. Besides I wanted to check to make sure it wasn't strep anyway, so I don't infect more people.

I go to the doctor and the lab tech was a BITCH! She JAMMED that thing INTO my throat and it hurt SO BAD! She didn't swipe my throat with the swab, she STABBED my throat with the swab. She just kept saying "say awwww" then when she was done she added, "you just didn't want me to get in there did ya?" Then, with a smirk, walked out. You have got to be kidding me. She made a comment on how bad my throat looked, obviously I was going to have some sort of reflexes on have a giant q-tip plunged into my throat. Now I can't even swallow. I think I may call the doctor's office tomorrow and file a complaint. It was completely unnecessary to have it rammed so hard. Who goes to the doctor's office to get worse? I would have been better off staying home. I am convinced now that she wasn't even an employee or it was her first day.

By the way, it wasn't strep.

Children

Connor William 10/3/03
With Mother's Day coming up, I am being tested as my capability as a mother.

First Connor has been coming up with some of the strangest things. He was eating dinner last night and told us he was done. Trying to get him to eat a little more (he is a terrible eater.) I said, "It will help you grow." Wrong thing to say apparently. He started bawling like crazy. Shocked, I asked, "Connor, what is wrong?" He responded, " I don't want to grow. I just want to be a kid." Talk about ripping out my heart. I felt horrible for him. he was devastated that he had to grow up. I told him I meant it will help him grow healthy. I didn't know what to say. I can't tell him he isn't going to grow up. And he was in such a state that I couldn't even explain that it is going to take a long time for him to grow. Needless to say, he wouldn't touch his dinner after that.

Second, poor Clara is teething again. It started yesterday. She hass been drooling in gallons. I am constantly changing her clothes. Even with a bib on she is getting drenched. And she won't stop crying. She has cried herself hoarse. Poor baby. Nothing will calm her. She doesn't want to be held, she doesn't want to be put down, she just doesn't know what she wants. I gave her tylonol earlier and she just spit it out. Great. She isn't eating. Or drinking a bottle. I did put some ice water in a sippy cup and she kind of gnawed on it for awhile, but not very long. At least she got some water in her! She didn't sleep a wink last night. Which sucked for me because I worked at 5:30 this morning. I am just a little tired.

But with all of this craziness, motherhood is SO worth it! I love my kids more then I oculd ever imagine! Happy Mother's Day to all you mommies!

Duh Mom

I tell Connor, "go upstairs and get dressed." After 15 minutes I go see what is taking so long.

He got to the taking the clothes off part and kinda forgot what he was doing and started playing with his toys. So I ask, "where are your clothes?!?" He looks at me like I am a complete idiot and responds,

"In the closet!"

Duh.

For the Birds!

Yesterday we are sitting on Connor's room and ask him to go downstairs and get his shoes. A few minutes later he is back upstairs with a horrified look on his face. "Mom there is a giant bird downstairs!" We think nothing of it, because we have 3 cats and they are ALWAYS bringing in dead birds, mice, and rabbits. Gross, I know. And I ask, "Is it dead?" and he relpies, "No!" So, still we aren't that worried, they are usually injured and not flying. Well, we go downstairs and it is a full grown, perfectly good flying quail! It was quite the experience. We tried NOT to hurt the poor thing, but something happened to it's leg in the process of trying to get it out. I was so worried (as you can hear in the video) of gross bird diseases that it brought into my house. We think a cat might have brought it in, and when Connor went downstairs, he may have freaked the cat out and he booked outside, leaving the quail. Geez.

After we got it out, about 2 hours later we went to Target and saw it limping around on Keene and South Highlands. I hope he was on his way home to his family and will be okay! Poor birdy. Connor couldn't wait to go to daycare to tell everyone in the world about the quail that got loose in our house.
